Class:
I like this week’s class. More than half of the students presented their ideas and essays about “Adaptive Mindset” individually. Due to the time constraint, I was pushed off to next week to present mine. Although I didn’t gain any advice from other students and professor on my essay, I still obtained some good suggestions and techniques which were given to other students. (Revised) I knew I must have a clear goal, whether informing or persuading. I learned from Arthur's article that a word or a phrase can contain double meaning. This is awesome I want to use it in mine. I also learned that the ending part should correspond with the beginning.
Home:
As usual, I went to church on Saturday afternoon. I was late for 10 minutes. I rushed in and caught up with praying section. After the sermon, we moved to the dining room. Then I felt my face was burning up. I saw some gift bags on the chair at the corner. I realized it is Cynthia’s birthday and I didn’t prepare anything for her. I pretended to be normal and finished my dinner. Now it was the time to sing HAPPY BIRTHDAY. After the song, we enjoyed the birthday cake made by Cynthia herself. I was so embarrassed during the whole dinner time. Fortunately, her birthday is actually on the coming Tuesday. So I bought a gift at Amazon.com and mail it to her directly. It should be delivered to her right on Tuesday. On the receiver name section of the address, instead of her name, I put few words which is “Happy Birthday (from Lin Yuan)”. I felt a little comforted.
But what made me more embarrassing was that this is not my first time forgetting people’s birthday. This is the third year I forgot Cynthia’s birthday. I still don’t know when my mom’s birthday exactly is. It seems I need pay much more attention on my neighborhoods. I used to hate people ask me what is my favorite in food, sport, games, and so on. Because I thought these talks are useless. During these talk, I wouldn’t get any benefit, which just proves that I am selfish. This is a good lesson I got. Hopefully, I can bring some change to myself.
