Familiar place:
As usual, at 10:40 a.m. of Friday, I finished my last class of this week. It was calculus. I walked down along the stairs from 4th floor of the STEM building, and rushed to my car which was parked in the front parking lot. I started my car immediately and drove out of the campus. It took me less than ten minutes to get my nail salon. I parked my car in the rear parking lot and run into the salon from the rear door. The salon had no customers. I could hear from the rear entrance that employees were all talking with laughing. Once I walked in, they saw me and I saw them.
I said, "Hey, guys. What's up?" As I said this, I walked toward the counter which was located at the front of the salon, and put my backpack down behind the counter.
They all replied me in different words. And I only heard clearly that one of them talked, "The coffee and bagel are ready in kitchen. You can eat now."
"Thank you very much. You are the best." I said.
After the small meal, I came back to the counter and started my computer. Then I started doing homework and saying hello to the upcoming customers.
Strange place:
For this piece, since recently I haven't gone to any strange place, I would like to talk about the new employee who just came to America and is now working in my salon.
The first day I saw him walk in the salon. I introduced him to every employee. Since that was his second day of American life, he hadn't get through the jet-leg yet. So he greeted to the other employees listlessly. Then he looked around and stared at the pedicure chairs. I let him sit on one of the chairs and try the massage. He enjoyed massage for few minutes and came down with great care. Then I walked him through the whole salon and illustrated as much as I can. Then he said he wants to learn how to do nails. So I brought the tools to him and taught him how to use the tools. When he saw the cuticle clipper, he showed fear of using it. He was afraid of blooding customers. Then all the employees comforted him and encouraged him to be brave. After the noon time, he couldn't defeat the jet-leg and went back home to sleep.
